Great Oaks Academy is a public charter school. That means there are no admissions requirements. Every student is given an equal opportunity to attend our school.
Each year we hold a 30-day open enrollment period in the spring. During this period (the dates are announced in the fall) interested families submit a simple form containing the student’s name and grade, and some family information so we know how to reach you. At the end of the open enrollment period, we compare the number of interested students to the number of open seats in each grade. If there are enough seats for each student who has submitted an application, all interested students are awarded a seat.
If there are more students than seats available, we hold a lottery. This means that students are selected randomly and put on a list. Seats are awarded to the students on the list in the order they were drawn. Students who are not awarded a seat are placed on a waiting list. If an enrolled student chooses to withdraw, or a selected student chooses not to enroll, we offer those open seats to students on the waiting list in the order they were drawn. Seats can come open at any time during the year.
Once your student is offered a seat at Great Oaks, you’ll be asked to complete an enrollment packet and given ten days to do so. This packet includes items such as your child’s birth certificate, shot records and academic records from previous schools.
If you’re interested in enrolling in Great Oaks Academy, we encourage you to attend one of our information nights or school tours and to submit an enrollment application.
